Country rock duo Florida Georgia Line—Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley—has made an auspicious start for a new act. The duo, who began performing and writing songs together while attending Nashville’s Belmont University, has seen their debut single “Cruise” sell nearly 200,000 copies while cracking the Top 40 of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Plus, they’ve toured with Nashville stars like Blake Shelton. Meanwhile, Hubbard scored a cut on country artist Jason Aldean’s upcoming album with “Black Tears,” a song he wrote with Canaan Smith. Such successes have surpassed their expectations. “It’s a blessing we get to do this for a living,” says Hubbard. As they get ready to release a full-length album with producer Joey Moi (Nickelback, Jake Owen), the pair is focused on the future. “Our idols create music that’s real and that everyone can relate to,” says Kelley. “That’s the kind of music we want to make.”
