Jonatha-Brooke

In the 11 new tracks of this new album, Jonatha Brooke brilliantly balances the soulfulness of her songs with rock, pop and jazz inflections, while maintaining though-provoking lyrics.

Midnight. Hallelujah. was primarily recorded at Sweetwater Studios in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Produced by Brooke along with Mark Hornsby, Phil Naish, and Eric Bazilian, the songs cover a wide sonic landscape and feature themes of faith, love, and addiction.

“Put the Gun Down” is a story I am telling inside the bigger story of the epidemic of gun violence. I don’t like to preach, so I made it a personal conversation with a character I made up. “Nobody done you wrong” in the chorus was the best way I could get at some kind of detente with the vicious rhetoric that has become the norm.”—Jonatha Brooke
