This sleaze-rock supergroup boasts members of Eagles of Death Metal, Cycle Sluts From Hell, and Queens of the Stone Age, and as if that weren’t badass enough, frontwoman Von Hesseling anchors the project with bruising soulfulness, holding it down like a female Danzig. As might be expected, S&D deal in blues-infused hard rock and chunky proto-punk, driving their “Freak Train”—one standout on a disc devoid of duds—straight down the Sunset Strip. The gang gets apocalyptic on “End of Days,” asking, “What you gonna run from? / Who you gonna praise?” Worshipping these riff monsters won’t bring salvation, but when all hell breaks loose, it might grant you entrée into one of the more rawkin’ bunkers.
