Totally tubular amplification

FOR: Tube tones. Whether you’re a fan of modeling technology or not, you have to tip your hat to the folks at Line 6 for adding tube amplifiers to their array of sounds. Line 6 has been working with tube amp guru Reinhold Bogner for some time, and the resulting DT50 series amps are definitely going to turn heads. Powered by a pair of EL34 tubes, either of the DT50’s two channels can be configured on the fly to model the topography of the world’s most famous amps via MIDI. But the real magic happens when you connect the DT50 to one of the Line 6 POD HD floor units. If you call up a Class A amp model on your POD HD, the DT50 will reconfigure itself to “chase” that configuration. Even without those pluses, the DT50 stands its ground as a great-sounding tube amp.
