APOGEE GIO

Guitar interface for GarageBand, MainStage and Logic

FOR: Stomping your Mac. The GiO puts the fun in functionality for guitarists who want to rock out with their Apple computers. First and foremost this unit is a 24-bit USB-driven audio interface for guitar, designed by AD/DA conversion pioneers Apogee. However, the real functionality is in the massive amount of control given to your feet, freeing up your guitar-wielding hands from that pesky mouse. The five transport controls allow you to toggle between key playback and record functions, plus you can quickly change amp models with the preset selection buttons. After we got a fat loop up and running in GarageBand, an hour went by in a flash thanks to the dynamically color-coded stomp-box buttons.

NOT FOR: PC diehards.
