Witness all those bearded dudes in flannel shirts singing murder ballads. Led by three Indiana transplants, this San Francisco group does the opposite. They\u2019ve got a slide guitar and banjo and harmonies to boot, but their second album veers off the wagon trail and lands someplace\u2014get this\u2014fun. The most hootenanny-like cut, the inspirational knee-slapper \u201cPut Stuff in the Ground,\u201d isn\u2019t far removed from the twang-disco groover \u201cHallelujah\u201d or \u201cHoney on the Dance Floor,\u201d a sweet and thick blend of rubber-band bass and <i>Beggars Banquet<\/i> Stones riffing.
