Helmed by his longtime producer Michael Knox, <em>Night Train<\/em> sticks close to Aldean\u2019s hicks-from-the-sticks formula. Rattling off the usual menu of Southern-fried clich\u00e9s, he sings with attitude over screaming guitar riffs. The lead single, \u201cTake a Little Ride,\u201d and the title track are obvious bids for radio airplay\u2014minimally introspective tunes designed for maximum spins. That\u2019s common among Nashville\u2019s hat acts, so naturally, fellow frat-rock brothers Luke Bryan and Eric Church join Aldean on the ramblin\u2019 anthem \u201cThe Only Way I Know.\u201d Less impressive is \u201c1994,\u201d a novelty flashback that celebrates rural-route youth with hackneyed detail.
