CASIO LAUNCHES NEW INNOVATIVE DIGITAL PIANOS<\/h1>\n

Casio launched four new models in its Privia digital piano line at an exclusive press gathering at New York\u2019s Edison Ballroom\u2014while three of its sponsored artists\u2014Karmin, Tom Brislin and DJ Enferno\u2014performed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Key to the models is a new processor chip that, according to Casio VP Stephen Schmidt, is specifically geared for instruments\u2014and offers three times the memory of the previous generation of processors. \u201cThe bigger chip offers a number of things,\u201d says Schmidt. \u201cThe sound doesn\u2019t decay\u2014when you hit the string, it holds the string. And it\u2019s so natural and rich, the realism is incredible. It really sounds like a piano!\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed, the Privia\u2019s flagship model PX-850 even offers grand piano lid simulation\u2014lifting the top lid delivers a grand piano-like sound. The redesigned hammer action keyboard features simulated ebony and ivory textured keys to better approximate a real piano\u2019s feel.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI got to see some of these at summer NAMM,\u201d said Brislin before his performance, \u201cand now that they\u2019re ready to market, I\u2019m really excited. Casio has always been my keyboard since I was 3, and to see them go in this direction is really promising.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brislin has played with the likes of Yes, Meat Loaf and Deborah Harry while working on his own cinematic-pop projects. Karmin\u2019s Nick Noonan and Amy Heidemann are awaiting their major label album debut via Epic in November, having hit earlier this year with their single \u201cBrokenhearted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we were sound-checking, I heard what sounded like a sample of a hammer hitting a string\u2014the first time I\u2019ve heard that on an electric piano!\u201d said Noonan. \u201cThey\u2019re really trying to replicate an actual acoustic grand piano on an electronic setup: Even the keys feel like ivory and wood grain.\u201d<\/p>\n
