SESAC, the nation\u2019s most progressive performing rights organization, awarded\u00a0Rico Love<\/strong>\u00a0with top honors at the 16th Annual SESAC Pop Music Awards\u201d\u00a0when he was named Songwriter of the Year at the event which was held May 10, at NYC\u2019s Skylight Soho. Multi-platinum superstarUsher<\/strong>\u00a0made a surprise appearance at the awards to present his friend and collaborator Love with the prestigious award.<\/p>\n

Songwriter\u00a0Jacob Luttrell<\/strong>\u00a0captured Song of the Year honors for smash hit,\u00a0\u201cTonight (I\u2019m Lovin’\u2019You)\u201d\u00a0as recorded by Enrique Iglesias.<\/p>\n

SESAC Publisher of the Year honors went to\u00a0EMI Foray Music<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Love has enjoyed an extraordinary year by anyone\u2019s estimation.\u00a0 One of pop music\u2019s most prolific and diverse creative talents, Love hit the top of the charts in the last couple of years with\u201cThere Goes My Baby\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cHey Daddy (Daddy\u2019s Home)\u201d\u00a0by Usher (featuring Plies) as well as\u00a0\u201cJust A Dream\u201d\u00a0by Nelly and\u00a0\u201cHello Good Morning\u201d\u00a0(co-written with fellow SESAC hit-maker Nate\u00a0\u201cDanja\u201d\u00a0Hills) and recorded by Diddy-Dirty Money (featuring T.I. and Rick Ross) and\u201cSweet Dreams\u201d\u00a0by Beyonce.\u00a0 The past year proved to be another successful one for the busy songwriter\/producer as he again ruled the charts with\u00a0\u201cMotivation\u201d\u00a0(by Kelly Rowland) and\u201cWithout You\u201d\u00a0(by David Guetta featuring Usher).<\/p>\n

One of the evening\u2019s many highlights was the Inspiration Award presentation to Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer, Bryan-Michael Cox in recognition of his artistic, entrepreneurial and philanthropic contributions.\u00a0 In a short amount of time, Cox has established himself as one of music\u2019s most gifted and prolific music-makers.\u00a0 Since hitting the music scene he has made a major impact with his songwriting and producing skills on such hits as Mariah Carey\u2019s\u00a0\u201cDon\u2019t Forget About Us\u201d,\u00a0 Usher\u2019s\u00a0\u201cBurn\u201d,\u00a0\u201cYou Got It Bad\u201d\u00a0and Confessions Pt. 2\u201d\u00a0and took home a Grammy Award for his work on Mary J. Blige\u2019s\u00a0\u201cBe Without You\u201d. Currently, Cox has projects in the works with such superstars as Mariah Carey, Brandy, Monica and Babyface.\u00a0 Cox is also working with songwriting\/producing giant Rico Love on project for Kelly Rowland, Tierra Mari and Trey Songz.<\/p>\n

A noted humanitarian, Cox has served on the advisory board of 100 Urban Entrepreneurs, a non-profit organization that helps identify, finance and mentor entrepreneurs from economically disadvantaged communities\u00a0\u2014\u00a0often through live business-pitch events in cities across the United States\u00a0\u2014\u00a0in order to highlight the urban community\u2019s untapped business potential and demonstrate, to an additional 1 million\u00a0plus entrepreneurs, a proven path forward to business and financial success. Bryan tours the country serving as a judge at these live pitch events and ultimately acts as a mentor to the program\u2019s participants.\u00a0 In addition, Bryan works with The Travis Best Foundation, a non-profit founded by former NBA player Travis Best that helps underserved youth through arts and athletics.\u00a0 Each year, Bryan dedicates a weekend in Springfield Massachusetts during The Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend where he works hands on with youth that have an interest in songwriting and production.\u00a0 Bryan hosts workshops where he tutors kids ages 13 – 17 in music production, songwriting, music business and publishing.<\/p>\n

Pop songstress Melanie Fiona delivered a soulful version of her current single,\u00a0\u201c4:00 am\u201d, a song that was written by Rico Love.<\/p>\n

The 2012 awards celebration drew more than 400 songwriters, publishers and industry professionals. The star-studded attendees including Love, Fiona, Cox and Traci Hale among many others.\u00a0 There were more than 40 songwriter and publisher award recipients in the categories of Pop, R&B\/Hip-Hop, and Rock.<\/p>\n
