There was incredible energy and vitality between them.\u201d Seeff recalls that the couple\u2019s contrasting personalities made their interactions all the more compelling. \u201cTina was a whirlwind of freedom and spontaneity,\u201d he says. \u201cShe was teasing Ike, trying to get him to loosen up, but there was an edge about it. It was as if she was challenging him just a bit. It felt almost dangerous but at the same time ecstatically creative.\u201d Ike, on the other hand, was reserved and controlled. \u201cHe was very charismatic,\u201d Seeff says. \u201cHe had a regal, majestic quality about him, and a tremendous sense of who he was.\u201d A planned shot of the pair kissing didn\u2019t pan out\u2014the two \u201cnever quite got there,\u201d Seeff says. \u201cI didn\u2019t see love and affection between them as much as I saw an intense creative interaction.\u201d Indeed, the Turners split acrimoniously just a year later; Ike Turner died in 2007.
