Her albums have become progressively slicker as she\u2019s transformed from coffee-shop singer-songwriter to star. The string arrangements found on her last album, 2009\u2019s <em>Everybody<\/em>, have been punched up on the sweeping album opener \u201cFire,\u201d while \u201cEnd of the World,\u201d with its soaring vocals, apocalyptic imagery and thumping percussion, is downright anthemic. However, the delicately sung indie-pop tunes that made her a television commercial and soundtrack mainstay haven\u2019t entirely disappeared. Songs like \u201cDo It Now\u201d and \u201cI\u2019m Through\u201d are as irresistible and well-written as her previous work, albeit a shade or two darker.
