All four of the D\u00fcren children were compelled to take piano lessons, but Breanne proved a natural\u2014soon she was playing by ear, teaching herself favorites like Joni Mitchell\u2019s \u201cThe River.\u201d By middle school she was writing her own songs, and by high school she was playing local coffeehouses. While attending college she met Owl City frontman and fellow Minnesotan Adam Young through a mutual friend who suggested their voices might sound good together. He was right\u2014before she knew it, D\u00fcren was touring the world as a backup singer with Owl City. Her solo debut EP, Sparks<\/em>, was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Mike Daly (Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Stephen Kellogg). \u201cI\u2019m searching,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd I guess what I realize now is that there is no destination. There\u2019s always going to be something new that you\u2019re searching for. I don\u2019t ever want to feel comfortable. I\u00a0want to stay curious forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
