All sparkling guitar and infectious melody, that self-titled effort should have been a million-seller. Here\u2019s hoping the band scores big with <em>The Last Place<\/em>, which picks up right where its predecessor left off. Frontman Justin Kennedy once played in a group with Ben Gibbard, and while he shares the Death Cab for Cutie singer\u2019s penchant for cleverly articulating heartache, he never wallows or lets his tunes drag.
