An original, \u201cGoing Back,\u201d kicks things off in spirited blues-boogie fashion, but it\u2019s the Chess covers that shine brightest. On Willie Dixon\u2019s \u201cSeventh Son,\u201d Thorogood ratchets up the tempo to punk proportions, propelling the song with a locomotive guitar churn and a hefty dose of searing slide work. Chuck Berry\u2019s \u201cLet It Rock\u201d and J.B. Lenoir\u2019s \u201cMama Talk to Your Daughter\u201d are delivered with similar scorched-earth abandon. Muddy Waters\u2019 \u201cTwo Trains Running (Still a Fool)\u201d simmers with a slow burn, and \u201cSpoonful\u201d is offered up with leisurely reverence for Howlin\u2019 Wolf\u2019s definitive version.
