Previous incarnations of the UAD required a PCI or PCIe slot, locking iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini users out of the plug-in party. The FireWire-driven UAD-2 Satellite is available in two footprints\u2014the QUAD, which features four SHARC DSP chips, and the DUO, which features two. By offloading plug-in processing, the UAD-2 acts as a session lifesaver as track count, plug-in instances and CPU load begin to grow. The UAD-2 Satellite is also a brilliant solution for existing UAD users who want to take plug-ins to go. We were able to register the Satellite and then authorize it to run all of our existing plug-ins<br \/>\nin less than five minutes. After firing up Pro Tools, all our beloved UA plug-ins loaded seamlessly.
