On this eight-song set the two travel some familiar Americana territory, covering Townes Van Zandt (\u201cIf I Needed You\u201d), John Prine (\u201cUnwed Fathers\u201d), George Jones (\u201cYou\u2019re Still On My Mind\u201d) and the Everly Brothers (\u201cLove Hurts\u201d). Kyle and Rodriguez display natural chemistry together, and her fine fiddle playing brings some distinctiveness to these well-known numbers. It\u2019s with the less familiar tunes, such as Taylor\u2019s \u201cBig Kiss,\u201d Kyle\u2019s \u201cYour Lonely Heart\u201d and the duo\u2019s co-written \u201cFire Alarm,\u201d that the young partnership shows greatest promise. \u201cHeart\u201d has the earmarks of a honky-tonk standard, while \u201cAlarm\u201d sparks up a fun and feisty duet.
