But even though that relationship ended, you still feel something. I usually start with playing around with my guitar. I listen for sounds and notes that feel good and catchy. Then I use that as a launching point. I mumble some words, trying to find what I want to say. Sometimes ideas come when I\u2019m driving or walking. It\u2019s all about the feeling with me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What songwriting tip would you like to offer?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being honest with what you\u2019re feeling at the moment. Every day, write down your experiences. It\u2019s been a long journey working on this album, and I have so many wonderful people helping me with it. I can\u2019t wait for people to hear it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Top 5 Musicians or Songwriters<\/strong><strong>\u00a0who inspired you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marvin Gaye, Johnny Cash, John Mayer, Thom Yorke, Barbra Streisand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>One instrument or equipment that you can\u2019t live without\u2014that helps you write, record or perform?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My Martin acoustic\/electric guitar goes everywhere with me. A fresh Monster quarter-inch cord to plug it in\u2014is always a must.
