With only a couple of exceptions\u2014\u201cAurora\u201d and \u201cIn Between Time\u201d\u2014there\u2019s little here that resembles the playful pop his usual band is best known for. <em>Close to the Sun<\/em> is more in line with Belltower, the artsy British band Porter played with early in his career. Then as now, Porter performs a difficult balancing act, one that find songs like \u201cTwilite,\u201d \u201cWaiting for the Stars,\u201d \u201cCars on the Motorway\u201d and \u201cYou\u2019re Not Alone\u201d opening up an aural assault while also maintaining a cosmic connection.
