A veteran of New York City\u2019s avant-noisy No Wave scene of the early \u201980s, guitarist Tom\u00e1s Doncker has played with everyone from Bonnie Raitt to electro-dub producers. If anything links the various styles he\u2019s explored, it may be the blues, and here, he covers five songs made famous by Mississippi legend Howlin\u2019 Wolf. Doncker recorded the EP for a stage show called <i>Diablo Love<\/i>, and he plays these tunes with theatricality, evoking the spirit of\u2014but wisely never trying to mimic\u2014Wolf\u2019s signature growl.
