Located in Wimberley, Texas (in the heart of Hill Country), Blue Rock is the perfect setting for the creative soul. Surrounded by twisted, gnarled live oak, shaggy-barked ashe juniper, and the grape Kool-Aid scent of mountain laurel, this 27-acre ranch sits high on a secluded hillside, offering miles of tranquil views and silent serenity, dropping down to the river winding gracefully below. Along with an abundance of deer and the wild gray fox, free-range cattle wander lazily among the trees throughout the ranch and surrounding country hillside.

From the moment you set foot on the ranch, you know that this is no ordinary songwriting retreat. The massive studio garrison to the left and 3-story tower to the right, bracket a most impressive and beautiful edifice in the middle. Stepping through the doorway into the spacious country kitchen, you are welcomed with open arms, genuine smiles and warm hugs, along with your own name tag—all reassuring you that you are home.

The rich, warm Southern hospitality of owners Billy and Dodee Crockett, and their amazing team, ensured that every detail had been thoughtfully considered—offering a nurturing atmosphere in order to provide the best experience for the well-being and creativity of the artist.

Your sessions are accompanied by a delicious variety of wholesome, healthy, home-cooked meals, fresh-brewed coffee and raspberry iced tea, followed by freshly baked pies and homemade chocolate chip cookies straight out of the oven—just like Mom used to make when you came home from school.

The acclaimed Jonatha Brooke will lead a Songwriting Retreat at Blue Rock Studio in Wimberley, Texas, June 14-16, 2019. There will be group sessions, performance opportunities and individual consultation. There are five sessions, plus song circle. All experience levels are welcome.
