Blowout

thesosoglos.com

Better known for running (and living in) a series of DIY music venues than for making records, these Brooklyn punks know all about late-night parties, next-day cleanup and the cost-benefit calculation that makes it all worthwhile. And the costs can be high. “It’s never been such a crime to be free,” they holler on “Speakeasy,” a tune about getting hassled by police. While they occasionally tangle with the law, these shouty Clash fanatics are no hardened criminals. Opener “Son of an American” is about relishing freedoms considered ridiculous elsewhere in the world, and with each unhinged, organ-tinged, garage-pop anthem, the Glos make a case for seizing the day and counting our blessings.
