Peter Baldwin grew up singing in the church where his mother served as choir director. As a high schooler he eventually formed his own choir, and learned to play a variety of instruments. After graduation he headed for Orlando, Fla., to study recording at Full Sail University. Baldwin began performing in the area, building up a local fan base with his combination of soul, folk, jazz and pop. He released an acoustic album in 2008, but considers his new EP his formal debut as an artist—he wrote, produced and arranged every note, and released it on his own Rock Ya Girl label. “Vodville,” he explains, is his shorthand for the group of musicians with whom he surrounds himself and the unique creativity that sparks among them. “Naming the EP Peter Baldwin in Vodville is my way of paying homage to the people I work with,” he says, “and an invitation to listeners to join me in Vodville.”

“Vodville, he explains, is his shorthand for the group of musicians with whom he surrounds himself and the unique creativity that sparks among them.”
